Having dealt with the old-fashioned ways of construction, Rui joined Laminar to be an agent of change within the industry by enforcing our motto of creating meaningful connections as a means to deliver projects efficiently while having fun doing so and learning new things along the way.
Rui believes there is an untapped potential within the construction industry for doing things in a more productive way, eliminating turbulence in the project workflow.
Rui is originally from Portugal and believes he was, somehow, destined for the construction industry since he first started as a kid, creating visual images of what being an engineer would look like – someone out in a construction site with helmet and boots on, studying a pile of drawings.
He started his career in Portugal working in industrial maintenance and asset management. He went on to Rotterdam to work in a LPG storage tank construction project for an EPC contractor, taking a wide range of responsibilities as a site engineer, from planning and progress tracking to procurement and liaising with suppliers and subcontractors. There he also gained sound knowledge of the construction site dynamics. He then went back to Portugal to work as a planning engineer, developing baseline schedules for Oil & Gas construction projects, such as storage tanks, piping and turnarounds and enforcing good project control practices within the site teams.
