Steffie has a love for knowledge and enjoys it most, when it comes from someone who’s passionate about what they have to share. She is driven to find common ground where individuals can feel safe to connect with each other - to maximise their personal and professional potential. She also strongly believes in the value of teamwork and recognise that each individual contributes unique strengths, enabling us to deliver greater impact collectively. From her experience, the construction industry can be a challenging environment for many. By shifting the focus from profits to people, she believes we can create a more balanced and thriving industry.
She grew up by the sea in Goa, India, where she completed her early education before moving to the UK to pursue my A-levels, Undergraduate and Master’s degree. She is grateful to her parents, who encouraged her to become a confident and independent woman, and to the community of remarkable women who helped shape her values and perspective.
Throughout most of her career, she worked with main contractors across the UK, where visibility and recognition were often difficult to achieve. Even so, she progressed through roles spanning Buildings, Railways, Tunnels, Highways, Structures, Ground Investigation and Demolition. In her most recent position as a project manager for a small demolition company, she faced new challenges that pusher her to grow and revealed the full extent of her capabilities. Most importantly, it deepened her understanding of people.

Steffie enjoys honing her Poi Poi’s (streamers) skills and learning new moves – especially when she’s not accidentally hitting herself in the back of the head.
She is highly competitive at badminton and will push herself until YOU feel the burn! She can even do a handstand underwater, and in another life, she imagines she would have been a water gymnast.
People are often surprised when she tells them that her first language is English despite being from India. Her father was born in Nairobi, Kenya to Portuguese-Goan parents and speaks both Swahili and English. When he later moved to India and met her mother - who spoke English, Hindi and Marathi – English naturally became the language spoken at home. Due to colonisation, the schools she attended in Mumbai and Goa where English-medium schools, where she learnt Hindi and Marathi as a second languages. Additionally, because Goa was colonised by the Portuguese, many members of her extended family still speak Portuguese as their first language.
